Working Lots

I've been working a lot lately. We've just moved offices so now I commute to SoMa daily. The commute hasn't been bad because I'm taking CalTrain. I never would have imagined that I get so much work done on the train. It is about a 20 minute commute on the train to the city and I manage to get quite a bit of work done. I've been able to respond to e-mails, do some coding, and planning for upcoming features. I never thought I'd enjoy taking mass transit but so far I don't mind it. The ugliest part of taking the train is waking up early to make sure I catch an express train ... which means waking up before 8am. *boo* Other than that though, I've enjoyed the ride and not needing to deal with traffic coming and leaving the city.

In case I haven't mentioned it yet, I'm having a really good time at my job. I'm working with a bunch of talented engineers and the work we're doing is extremely interesting. We've got a lot of stuff we want to roll out and I look forward to coming into the office each day to work on something very challenging and interesting.

Ming estimates that I spend 90+ hours working (that's actual work time, not including time taken away for meals) and he's probably pretty accurate in his estimation. I never saw myself as one who'd work long hours and actually enjoy it ... but thus far I can say it's really great. :)

Gardening has taken over

It seems that I spend much of my weekends gardening now. This weekend I planted some more tomato plants, examined my eggplants to see how they were fairing, and planted a few pots of flowers. My nails have dirt in them, my back is aching, I've probably got a farmer's tan ... and I hope it is all worth it in a few months when I can harvest some summer veggie bounty.

In addition to kneeling all weekend in the garden I also took Coco on a very challenging walk. We walked up a very steep hill and my calves are completely aching from the steepness. I'm not sure what degree of steepness the hill was but it was steep enough that I am still feeling it 2 days later :(

Been Quiet of Late

Yes, I admit, it's been very quiet of late. I have been really busy and haven't had time to blog. As many of you know by now, I've started a new job at an exciting new startup. I've been busy adding lots of cool new features and making the product outstanding.

Currently I'm taking a break from working and I'm indulging in a guilty pleasure. I am watching the new interview between Oprah and Tom Cruise. You can see it here: http://www.redlasso.com/ClipPlayer.aspx?id=80592940-ab73-4402-af6b-630c9787eac2
