Bojangles is a fast food chain similar to Popeyes. We don't have it in the Bay Area but it's pretty prevalent in the South. I went there for the first time today and I have to say that I was very impressed. The fried chicken had good flavor and all of the pieces were of a decent size (not too skimpy.) The biscuits were light and fluffy -- much better than any other fast food chain's biscuits. We had pinto beans and dirty rice as our sides. The sides were, by far, much better than Popeyes. I find the sides at Popeyes to be bland and these were more flavorful.
The two dishes that Bojangles offers which I haven't seen offered elsewhere in the Bay Area were sweet tea and sweet potato pie. Yes, McDonalds offers a sweet tea but I am going to ignore that fact. >_< This was my first taste of sweet tea and it just isn't for me. It is way too sweet; it feels like I'm drinkng something which would give me an instant sugar high. The sweet potato pie, however, was really pretty good. It's like a McDonald's apple pie except that it is fried and the filling is mashed sweet potato. It's so good. I'd go back just for the pie in a heartbeat ... although one can only eat so much Southern food without worrying about all of that fried food adding up.
I'm definitely going to visit Bojangles again the next time I come to the south. Yum!
